Blog #1: My Work Place

1. What is my workplace called, and what does it do?
My workplace is called United Stainless. What they do is kitchen aplliences for resturants or bars.
 
2.Is it a small business, a
  medium sized business, or a large corporation?
This is a medium sized buisness..

 3.Where is my workplace
located  and what does it look like?
My workplace is located in Hayward, surrounded by many warehouses and buisnesses. 
It looks like a warehouse, with many machines in it.

 4.How many people work there? 
A total of 4 people work there.

 5.What sorts of people does my
  workplace employ?
The main type of people that work there are people that have had a experience
in these tytpes of work. 

6.Do most of the people there
  have a 4-year college degree, 2-year college degree, or technical
  certificate?
Not most of the people that work here have a degree of some kind, its more of expereince.

 7.Who does my workplace
  serve?
My work place usually  serves any resturants and bars.

 8.What are the strengths of my
  workplace? 
I think that one big strenght is that the people that work there get along with each other.

9.What are the weaknesses of
my  workplace?
Alot of the work is really hard work.

Blog #2: My Mentor

1.What is my mentor’s name and job? (If I had more than 1, describe them
  both.)
My Mentors name is Agustin Ruiz, he is the owner of the buisness.
 
2.What is their typical day
(or  week) like?
Well, his typical day is that he first gets his coffe. After he get to the shop and talk to
the works to see what they have to work on. Then for most of the time in the day he would 
work on any projects that they have to do. Or he will go to visit some customers to see what they need, or 
if they need something else. By the end of the day he wil start organzing and cleaning up the shop.

 3.How did they become
interested  in this field and what skills/education background did they
need?
I believe that it was osmething he earned and believed that he can make a buiseness and amake money.
and with his experience in different work places he finally made his own shop.

BLog #3: My Role

1.What is my main responsibility? What is my “title”?
To help my mentor, an also other workers. Also to work on osme designs. 
And to clean the shop.

 2.What other types of tasks am
I  completing each week?
Each week I am also helping to clean and organize th shop and the workplace.
Try to keep things safe , and ready for when the works need  the tools.

 3.What is a regular day like?
  Describe it from start to finish.  Use examples and tell stories.
Well, i get there and start sweeping the shop to keep the place clean. After I go inside the office and start help Agustin,
and then go to help some of the workers aswell. Around 12 we go for lunch for a hour. After we would go back and work on whatever we were
working on. Before its time to leave we would clean the shop good, and keep it organized. And then we will  leave and thats the rest of the day.

Blog #4: Project Brainstorm

1.Describe what I am thinking I’ll do for my WLE project.
For my project I am thinking about designing a blue print about a project that we are working on
in the shop for some customers.

2.How did I come up with this idea?  Explain my thinking.
I came up with the idea when I was talking with my mentor about what I was going to be doing
this year in WLE. He told me that he was going to showing the process they go through to design a
tables, cabinets, and sinks for the customers.

3.Why am I excited to actually do this project for the next 3-4 weeks?
I am actually excited because i like working with the computers, and designing in the computers.

4.In Academic Seminar, you’ll get help in actually planning out your project, but for now, type your brainstorm of what you’ll need to accomplish in order to finish your project in the next 3-4 weeks.
First I have to go to visit some customers resturant or bar to see what they want us top make for them.
Then I have to go through a process to be a design the and then build them.



Blog #5: Progress on my WLE Project

1. What did you do at your WLE today?
Today I went with my mentor to Baha Fresh in Los Gatos. This is one of our customers and we had to
see if they are ready for us to go and take the shelves, sinks, and tables to the resturant.

2.  What did you and your mentor talk about regarding your project?
My mentot talk to me regarding to my WLE project how everything that I have been
doing through My WLE  is all part of an important process to get something done. For we have to go
and meet our customer, and talk to see what they need to be made. We have to measure the place where the products are going to be at.
After process it, and figure out all the material that we are going to need. After its processed it we start the designing process and once
that has been finished the we send it to the shop for the workers can build it. ONces its build we clean it , make it look nice, and then
we deliver it and assemble at the plce where they want to be, or they would pick it up and assemble it themselves.

3.What have you accomplished on your project so far?
I have seen different resturants and bars of different customers, now im
starting the designing process.



Blog #6: Leadership Skills


  1. 1.What leadership skill(s) am I using the most? (Think Critically, Complete Projects Effectively, Collaborate Productively, or Communicate Powerfully?) 
    I believe that the Leadership Skills that I am using the most is Collaborating Productively and  Complete Projects Effectively because to complete this project I must work with my mentor and also with other workers to make sure what I am  doing is right. I also believe that I am using Complete Projects Effectively because I need to turn in each assignment in a certain date.

  2.  How well am I using this leadership skill at my WLE?  How could I improve?
    I believe that I am using this Leadership skill really because I am working well with my mentor and the workers, and also because my work is done nice and good on time.

3.How does this leadership skill help me do my work?
This leadership skill helps me do my work because I can ask people ti help out when I need help, also they teach me what I have to do to make it better.

4.What leadership skill does my mentor use the most?  Why?
I believe that my mentor uses communicating Powerfully the most because he explains really well what he wants to be done and what I have to do to make everything become nice.

Blog #7: What I learned, Reflection:

1.What have I learned about myself (what I can do, what I like) because of this WLE experience?
What I learned about myself is that I can present myself professionally to customers.

2.What challenges did I face during my WLE and how did I overcome, address, or learn from them?
I don't believe that there was a main challenge..

3.What passions, values, or life lessons did I learn from this experience?
I learned that hardships that it takes to become the owner and the manager of a company.

4.    How was my creativity put to use during my experience?


5.How did my WLE placement affect me, a community, my environment, or a particular group of people?
My WLE this year effected me because I was able to see a different way of working than from working on the shop from last year.

6.What do I believe now that I didn't before about this profession?
Now I know  the process to get something done and well for a company.

7.What specific skills did I learn or practice during my WLE that are important in this profession?
Some skills that I learned is how to use Auto Cut in the Computer.

8.If someone were to ask me why what I did at my WLE was important, what would I say?
I would say that what I did was important because  every part of a company is important even if the work is small.

9.   How will what I have learned from my WLE affect the choices I make in the future?
In my WLE i saw a different perspective of what I might like to be later on in life.

I went to the same place that I did last year, but all I had to do is ask him again if I could work there again this year
but in a different part of the company.

2.The most effective way of looking for a job and getting hired is by…
I believe that most effective way is by making sure what you looking for. Being confidence on yourself,
 and also determination to keep looking for a workplace.

3.As a result of my WLE, I think being a professional or a responsible adult in the work world means…
Waking up early, having a good relationship and reputation with your boss, and always trying to work hard.

Blog #9: Life at my WLE:

1.What did you do today?
Today I went to go visit another customer with my mentor in Los Gatos, and also in Oakland. 

2.How have you improved as an intern?
The way that I have improved as intern is that I have been more responsible with my work and 
I have worked really hard to make sure things come out right.

3.What about your workplace makes it a great or not so great place to work?
I think what makes it a good workplace is that everybody has a good attitude there. 
Everybody is serious about their work and my mentor always likes to give me advise in life.
